RBC and Way2Safety join forces

We are pleased to announce that this week we have officially ratified the cooperation with our industry partner Way2Safety. By common consent, we acquired 50 percent of the shareholding of Ridderkerk-based safety specialist Way2Safety. The resulting joining of forces will make a positive contribution to our services and clients. The combination of knowledge, skills and, above all, capacity, results in a substantial jump in scale.

Our management believes the jump in scale is a necessary step. Emphatically desired too, to structurally fulfil both its own ambitions and market demand at the highest level. In terms of numbers, there is no doubt that we are already in the lead. This explicitly applies to the acute availability of manpower and equipment. Exactly the biggest flaw of the industry as a whole. Both RBC Group and Way2Safety need no further explanation in our home country. Both companies have long been active interregionally in providing complete services around active and passive safety and security in and around the workplace. By chance, the ‘newly weds’ are strongly represented in the maritime sector and heavy industry. In particular, in recent years we have been vigorously broadening our services. This involves the sale and rental -including service and maintenance- of safety equipment and PPE from its own Service Centre or the Safety Shop concept at the various sites. We are also active in technical solutions for safety supervision, security and business certification.

Passive and active

One of the characteristics of the fields in which both companies operate is the highly variable demand for safety supervision and risk management specialists. It is up to us and Way2Safety to respond to this flexibly. The jump in scale we are making together with the acquisition is now widely recognised as a USP (Unique Selling Point). Especially since from now, on all specialisms in the field will be available through one-stop shops. Also called complete unburdening. According to our directors Michel Tooren and Pim van der Est, the new combination is able to withstand the vagaries of the market and are even already aiming for further expansion of the RBC Group organisation in Flanders and the Ruhr region.

Champions League

Board members Herman Gerrits and Erwin Reijnders spoke on behalf of Way2Safety. The former stressed that his company and RBC were made for each other. “Because we are concretely able to fill in each other’s gaps. Now that all specialisms are bundled together, it makes the fieldwork a lot easier. It really is a complete package.” As a senior in the profession, Reijnders values the experience of those in the field. “The ambition that appeals to me in our colleagues is that they manifest themselves in the highest market segment. What I have learned in this business is that performing at Champions League level is only for those that can compete with the best among competitors. I am almost certain that there is no second party in our market that employs 350 fully qualified and certified specialists. That strengthens my confidence in the success of the acquisition.”
